HARRY THE DIRTY DOG
Your Kindergarten and First Grade students will LOVE Harry the Dirty Dog by Gene Zion! Maybe they can even relate to Harry, because he hates to take baths!
Harry hated taking baths so much, that when he heard the water running for his next bath...
he buried his scrubbing brush in the backyard and ran away from home!
The story goes on to detail places that Harry visits in the story. Of course, every place Harry visits turns this white dog into a black dog because he gets dirtier and dirtier as the story goes on.
After some time, Harry became tired and hungry. He missed his home. So he headed back there, but there was a problem!
His family did not recognize him! Instead of being a white dog with black spots, Harry was now a black dog with white spots.
Harry tried to convince the family that it was really him. He did every trick he knew, but the family did not believe it could be him.
Finally Harry ran to the garden and dug up his scrub brush. He dashed upstairs and hopped into the bathtub. The family soon discovered that it was Harry after all!
This book activities unit is packed with Common Core aligned literacy companion activities to go with Harry the Dirty Dog by Gene Zion. It is perfect for Kindergarten and First Grade!
