THE JACKET I WEAR IN THE SNOW
The Jacket I Wear in the Snow by Shirley Neitzel is one of my favorite winter read aloud books to read with kids who are just learning to read.
It includes some graphics to replace winter clothing words, so that your little readers can join in. It also helps them learn how to follow the text!
THE JACKET I WEAR IN THE SNOW BOOK ACTIVITIES AND TEACHING IDEAS
I've created a literacy activity pack to go with the story. It's packed with fun ideas and reading activities to accompany the book.
SORTING AND SEQUENCING ACTIVITIES
There are pictures of the winter clothing for students to sort, organize in ABC order, use for the labeling pages, and more!
TEXT-TO-SELF CONNECTIONS
Text-to-self connection pages are included in the pack, to help students relate to the main character in the story.
STORY SEQUENCING
This is an activity that has students thinking about the order of outdoor clothes the main character puts on through the story.
GIVING OPINIONS
Various writing activity pages are included, so students can think deeper about the story, do a story retell, and add their own opinions.
MAKING INFERENCES
Students will share what they think the main character is thinking in the story, based on the character's experiences.
READING COMPREHENSION
DESIGN A JACKET
THE JACKET I WEAR IN THE SNOW CLASS BOOK
This will be a class favorite in your classroom library! This activity has students writing about a time they were helpers to someone in need.
