MAGIC TREE HOUSE
My class had a great time discovering the Magic Tree House series by Mary Pope Osborne.
I decided to do guided reading a little differently...students were allowed to choose any book they wanted to do as an individual book study.
They were so excited to choose and get started...
Settle in...read...and enjoy!
After their book was finished, they filled in novel study response pages that made students dig into their stories.
This novel study unit is packed with fun activities that will help your First Grade, Second Grade, Third Grade, and Fourth Grade students with story elements, making predictions, character traits, making text to self connections, author's purpose, main idea, making inferences, vocabulary, writing, giving opinions and advice, problem and solution, story retell, reading comprehension, and much more!
These activities can be used for whole class learning, during small group guided reading time, as individual student work, or as part of a book club. Copy a pack for each student and you're ready to go!
This Magic Tree House novel study of book companion activities will save you tons of planning time, is no prep, and is great to leave for a sub!
Want to make sure you are hitting the reading standards for First Grade, Second Grade, Third Grade, or Fourth Grade? This resource includes ELA standards charts for Common Core, TEKS and VA SOL, showing you exactly which skills your students are learning while doing these activities!
This Magic Tree House novel study unit of book activities includes a wide variety of activities, so you can differentiate to suit your students' learning abilities and needs.
After our studies were completed, we did a Paper Bag Book Club, where students could eat some popcorn and share about their books with others in the group.
It was fun to compare & contrast books from the series. And the best part...they were inspired to read even MORE Magic Tree House books!
