Fall Apple Art {and Color Mixing Activities}

My students did an lesson tying in fall apples and learning about primary colors.

Students began with this:

3 apple cut-outs, 4 leaf cut-outs, mini paint palette with red, yellow, and blue paint

After reading a book about apples, there was discussion about apple colors.

They began by painting one apple yellow.

The next apple was painted red.

All they had left on their paint palettes was blue paint!?

They had to mix colors together to paint their last apple...

...and mix colors to paint the leaves also.

When the paint dried, they glued their apples, leaves, and paper stems.

The second art activity involved apple stamping.

Pre-cut branches were glued onto a large sheet of paper.

Then students used apple halves to stamp apples onto the branches of the apple tree.

They painted little stems to the top of the apples.
