JUNIE B JONES AND THE YUCKY BLUCKY FRUITCAKE
Our favorite Kindergartener, Junie B Jones, is feeling very lucky in Junie B Jones and the Yucky Blucky Fruitcake by Barbara Park. She won playing games against Grampa Miller, and she feels her lucky streak will continue at school, at the school's Carnival Night.
Junie B Jones spends her spare time practicing carnival games. Of course, in the process, she makes a big mess of the house. But she is determined, and wants to win hundreds of prizes!
Carnival Night finally arrived! Junie B was feeling lucky, with all of the practicing she'd done. Only things did not go very well. She lost at Ring Toss, and Penny Toss and Fishing Booth...and at every other carnival game she tried.
Junie's final activity at Carnival Night was the Cake Walk. The players had to march in a circle, stepping on numbered squares. When the music stopped, a lady pulled a number out of the hat. If you were standing on the matching number, you get to choose a cake!
Junie B's luck had changed. Her number was called! She got to choose a cake from the cake table. There were so many delicious options to choose from!
Junie B Jones chose a fruitcake as her prize, much to her mother's dismay.
Junie B was excited to try her fruitcake. Only it didn't taste much like fruit. In fact, it tasted yucky blucky!
This book activities unit for Junie B Jones and the Yucky Blucky Fruitcake is packed with standards based literacy companion activities for First Grade and Second Grade. Your students will LOVE Junie B Jones and all of her antics!
