MERRY CHRISTMAS AMELIA BEDELIA
Merry Christmas Amelia Bedelia by Peggy Parish has our favorite housekeeper helping Mrs. Rogers prepare for the Christmas holiday season. 'Helping' in her unique Amelia Bedelia way, that is!
Your students will laugh along with the story, as Amelia Bedelia does everything she's asked ...literally... to get ready for Christmas. She makes a date cake, filled with numbers from a calendar. She stuffed stockings for the children, with stuffing. She trimmed the Christmas tree, with pruning shears.
Amelia Bedelia decorated the Christmas tree with colored balls, like orange basketballs and brown footballs. She strung lights on the tree, using big lightbulbs.
Amelia Bedelia wasn't sure what kind of star should go atop the Christmas tree, so she put a mirror up there. Now anyone who looked up into it could be the star!
Amelia Bedelia even arranged for three girls named Carol to greet their guest, as she liked to greet the guests with carols.
Thankfully Amelia Bedelia made a delicious spice cake that everyone enjoyed, which appeased her employers after all her silly antics.
And, because it was Christmas Eve, Santa came to visit! Amelia Bedelia was not supposed to see him, so she shut her eyes.
This book activities unit is packed with literacy companion activities to go with Merry Christmas Amelia Bedelia by Peggy Parish. It pairs with this fun Christmas themed book, and meets ELA learning standards for Common Core, TEKS, and VA SOL in First Grade and Second Grade.
