I LOVE MY FANGS
I Love My Fangs by Kelly Leigh Miller is a great book about wiggly teeth, for kids in Kindergarten and First Grade. The book is about young Dracula, making it a fun Halloween read aloud!
Dracula has two pointy, sharp fangs. He is very proud of them! They are a family trait, after all :)
Dracula takes good care of his fangs, brushing and flossing them daily. He is very proud of them!
So Dracula is devastated when one of his beautiful fangs becomes loose and falls right out. He tries his best to push it back in, but to no avail. He cannot be a vampire with only one fang!
Dracula tries his best to get his fang back into place. He uses tape, string, and even a piece of bubble gum. Nothing works.
Dracula is so distraught that he hides away from others. He covers himself up in his bed. But that night, as Dracula is sleeping, he receives a visit from the Tooth Fairy! The Tooth Fairy takes his fang. What does she think she is doing?! Dracula chases the Tooth Fairy all over, trying to retrieve his fang.
Dracula's parents explain to him that it is the Tooth Fairy's job to collect baby teeth. She takes the baby teeth so that he will be able to grow strong adult teeth. So Dracula lets the Tooth Fairy take his fang. Soon Dracula grows another fang. This one is even larger and more pointy and sharp than the other one. He is so proud of it, and cannot wait until the other baby fang comes out.
This craftivity makes a great Halloween themed bulletin board display to showcase student learning! Students can write and draw a story retell, or illustrate and write about their favorite part of the story.
This book activities unit is packed with literacy companion activities to go with I Love My Fangs by Kelly Leigh Miller. These fun Halloween themed activities are perfect for Kindergarten and First Grade, and are aligned to the Common Core, TEKS, and VA SOL standards.
