Junie B can't find her new mittens, but she finds a cool new pen on the ground. Finders keepers, losers weepers, right?
As soon as she gets home from school, Junie B rushes to ask her Grampa Miller to buy her another pair of furry mittens. Unfortunately that can't happen, as the ones he got were the last pair in the store. Then Grampa Miller goes on to tell Junie B about the time he lost his wallet, and how a good person found it and returned in his mailbox. June B learns that finders keepers is not the rule, and that now she actually may be a crook for keeping the pen she found instead of turning it in to the Lost and Found!
The next day at school, Junie B sees a girl who has furry black mittens. The girl said she found them at recess and so she should get to keep them. The teacher tells the girl that she should have brought the mittens to the Lost and Found. Junie B now realizes that she has to hand in the pen to the Lost and Found. Junie B Jones is NOT a crook, and she felt better turning it in (even though she really wanted to keep it!)
