JUNIE B JONES BOSS OF LUNCH
Junie B Jones Boss of Lunch by Barbara Park opens with our favorite first-grader, Junie B Jones, excited about her new lunch box. She can't wait to show it off to her friends when they head to the cafeteria for lunch.
Junie's friends are not so enthused about her new lunch box. In fact, most of them buy their lunches and have no need for a lunch box. They debate which is better, bought lunches vs brought lunches. Junie is not so excited anymore.
Then June B learns that the snack lady from her kindergarten year works in the cafeteria. Junie excitedly ran over to ask her when she would be bringing cookies to her class. Junie was disappointed to learn that this was a treat reserved for kindergarten classes.
To cheer her up, Junie B was offered a chance to help in the cafeteria. Junie B thought that being a helper meant that she was the boss- the boss of lunch!
The next day during lunch, Junie headed to the cafeteria. She put on an apron, hair net, and some gloves. She was so excited to help in the cafeteria! Things started out well. Then things went not so well. And then Junie B was dismissed from her role.
Things turned around when Junie's class was offered cookies, and Junie was asked to be the helper of handing them out.
