JUNIE B JONES HAS A PEEP IN HER POCKET
In Junie B Jones Has a Peep in Her Pocket, Junie B and her Kindergarten class are headed to a farm for a field trip!
While the rest of the class is excited to go, Junie B is not pleased. She is afraid of roosters! She has been told by a classmate that roosters can peck your head into a nub.
Junie B's mother buys her a new outfit to wear on the farm. This does not help make Junie B want to go on the field trip. She heads onto the bus wearing a straw hat, overalls, and a bandana.
Farmer Flores tries to make Junie B comfortable being on the farm by asking her to be his farm hand. Junie B sees this as a perfect opportunity to boss around her classmates.
On the farm, the children see a barn, cows, pigs, goats, lambs, and a tractor. Then they head into the henhouse.
Junie B was nervous to see what was inside. But she saw some baby chicks, and was delighted. She even put one in her pocket...until she learned that it would one day become a rooster!
This book activities unit is packed with Common Core aligned literacy companion activities to go with the book Junie B Jones Has a Peep in Her Pocket by Barbara Park. The unit can be used with a whole class, small group, book club, or individual student learning. It's geared towards students in First Grade and Second Grade.
