SOMEBODY LOVES YOU MR HATCH
Somebody Loves You Mr. Hatch by Eileen Spinelli is a sweet Valentine's Day read aloud for Kindergarten and First Grade.
Mr. Hatch is a lonely man who leads a simple (boring) life...until the day the postman leaves a mysterious package at his front door.
It's a heart-shaped box of candy, with a note that says somebody LOVES him! As it was Valentine's Day, Mr. Hatch deduced that he had a secret admirer!
Of course, this completely changed Mr. Hatch. He was no longer boring and quiet...he was HAPPY! He seemed to come alive, all because of this special delivery.
Mr. Hatch became lively! He spoke to people, was more adventurous, became more outgoing, and made lots of friends.
He helped others, and they helped him. Mr. Hatch was a new man! Until...
The postman came to see Mr. Hatch. He had delivered the box of candy and note in error. They were not meant for Mr. Hatch at all. This made Mr. Hatch sad. Soon he was back to his old self: lonely, predictable, boring, quiet.
The townspeople noticed the change in Mr. Hatch. He had become their friend, and they wanted Mr. Hatch to know that he was loved. So they did something to make him realize this. Read the book to find out more!
