A GREAT spring classroom read is Eric Carle's book The Tiny Seed.
It takes us along on a seed's journey as it blows off of a plant and gets planted itself, growing into its own seed-bearing flower.
Other seeds that fall from the plant have different fates- they may get eaten by birds or dried up by the sun. And those seeds that do make it to full-grown plants may be stepped on or be picked by people. This story makes students consider what seeds need to grow.
I have created a pack to go along with the book The Tiny Seed. It includes book activities as well as scientific teaching with photos of the life cycle of a plant.
It's Common Core aligned, and is great as a supplement to a plant unit!
