One of my favorite winter books is Owl Moon by Jane Yolen.
It's the story of a father and child who go out into the winter night in search of owls.
This book is rich in its sensory language, which is why I love to use it to teach about visualization.
It's a wonderful winter book to study for First Grade and Second Grade.
Here are a few activities in my pack that go with this winter story:
VISUALIZATION
SENSORY LANGUAGE
MAKING WORDS
VOCABULARY ALPHABETICAL ORDER
EVIDENCE FROM THE TEXT {COMPREHENSION}
GRAPHIC ORGANIZERS
