SNOWY BOOKS: THE SNOWY DAY & THE JACKET I WEAR IN THE SNOW
The ground is covered in white snow, and these two books are definitely ones that my students can relate to!
We read The Snowy Day and talked about the different activities Peter did in the snow.
Here are some activities we did with the story:
We identified story elements, character traits, and gave opinions. We made text to self connections, worked with vocabulary words, and made a class book.
This sweet craftivity comes in a boy and girl option, and makes a cute wintery bulletin board display!
We also read The Jacket I Wear in the Snow by Shirley Neitzel.
My students could relate to how much work it is to get dressed to go outside :)
Here are some activities we did with that book:
This book is AMAZING for sequencing events! There is a cut and paste activity for students to sequence the order of what snow clothes were put on.
As mentioned above, my students can relate to being frustrated when putting on snow clothes...especially when they're in a hurry to get outside for recess!
This class book has students writing and illustrating about a time they have helped others.
In this activity, students are practicing vocabulary words while sorting them.
