BROWN BEAR BOOK ACTIVITIES
A short and sweet post to show you our latest round of Kindergarten literacy activities with centers based on Brown Bear Brown Bear What Do You See?BROWN BEAR WRITE THE ROOM
I 'hid' Brown Bear character cards with color words on them around the classroom. Students had fun searching for them and printing the color words by the correct characters. Active learning while practicing printing, reading sight words, and coloring the book characters? Yes, please!
BROWN BEAR COLOR WORDS
These character cards have color words on them. Students matched the letters using letter tiles to help them learn how to spell the color words from the story.
ALPHABET WRITING BOOKS
We practiced the letter sound B and printing b for Brown Bear in our alphabet writing books, a fun center that touches on letter sounds and phonics as well as handwriting practice. This is a great writing center activity!
RAINBOW WRITING
Students did Rainbow Writing for letter Bb as well as sight words from the book Brown Bear Brown Bear What Do You See? They copied the letters over and over again using a rainbow of different colors. The highlighted the sight words using a rainbow of different colored highlighters. Fun!
BROWN BEAR LISTENING CENTER
Students listened to the book Brown Bear and then filled in a reading response page (not the one pictured above). The pages are part of a Listening Center set you can find using the link below. They are great for student accountability, to ensure they listen to the story as well as for reading comprehension.
LITERACY ACTIVITIES CENTER ROTATION CHART
These center rotation signs are used every single day! This week I had them use Letter Tiles, Write the Room, Word Work, Listen to Reading, and Writing.
