I am so happy with how our Literacy Activity time is working out! Here's the next round of Literacy Activites that we started this week.
CLASS NAMES WORD SEARCH
We had our first try at word search skills a few days ago, when completing the Four Seasons word search . This time, we are focussed on our classmates' names!
THANKSGIVING WRITE THE ROOM
This class favorite has students searching for Thanksgiving-themed vocabulary words, and printing them on the correct lines.
It's part of my Thanksgiving Write the Room pack {here}
RAINBOW WRITING
Still practicing making those letters by Rainbow Writing them.
ABC HANDWRITING BOOK
Students take word cards that begin with a specific letter and copy them onto the right page.
This activity is from Michelle Rist {here}
LISTENING CENTRE: CHICKA CHICKA 123
We switched from the alphabet version to the number version.
Students filled in a response form after hearing the story.
You can find my literacy activity organization cards {here}
If you do Halloween activities in your class, be sure to check out these literacy and math activities!!!
Next week we'll be reading about The Pumpkin Patch Parable by Liz Curtis Higgs, and we'll be doing some activities from this pack!
Find it {here}
UPDATE: I have created bundles of month-long literacy centers, to make things easy for Kindergarten teachers!
The packs include literacy activities in these 5 areas of learning:
1)Writing 2)Listening to reading 3) Word work (sight words) 4) Phonics/alphabet 5) Phonemic awareness
The packs are laid out, week by week, for the entire month. They include 5 stations for students to rotate through per week, with all of the components you’ll need for each activity.
Assessment tools are included to help keep learning on track and to keep your students accountable.
Learning is spiraled throughout the month, to help students build on their prior learning.
