All that alphabet practice has paid off, and my students are well under way in using those letter sounds to spell lots and lots of CVC words.
We've been using my Phoneme Segmentation Activities pack to identify where the sounds are in the word. Then students show the letters represented by the sounds on the chart.
It's great for practice with segmenting sounds. And it's all attached with Velcro, so it's easy for little hands to move the letters around.
We also play a game I call Mix It & Fix It.
I put the letters of a CVC word in random order on the magnetic board. I say the word, and students take turns coming up and making the word. I LOVE how they are stretching out the words and saying the sounds as they think aloud!!
We have also been using the CVC Mega Pack created by Jessica @ The Littlest Scholars.
Students help to make the CVC words using magnetic letters.
Then they did a follow-up worksheet activity.
Anita, you are the BEST! That is the best compliment I have ever received-- I am so incredibly flattered!
